Discovery Groups to replace 40 Days of Purpose Groups Discovery groups provide an opportunity to explore the Bible and develop community. Each person will explore, the group will discover and the community (Church) will be united in DISCOVERY. Discovery can be exciting, scary, thrilling, and a growing experience. So when do you grow most? When you find yourself in a tough situation. We want to be a body of believers that are connected to one another. So our Discovery Groups will morph once per year to give people a chance to discover new relationships. We believe that this puts most people in a tough situation because we like the same things over and over. When you go to your favorite eating establishment don’t you usually get the same thing? Where do you sit in church? Is it in the same general area that you always sit? If we do that with our faith and our relationships, we are in trouble. Our Discovery Groups are just that, a chance to uncover new relationships with people wanting to discover Jesus. Discovery Groups:
How Long Does A Group Last? Each Discovery Group stays together throughout an entire year. Summers are free of scheduled studies. Groups may decide to continue meeting through June, July, and August. The groups that meet in these months will be free to choose their own material. Which Group Should I Join? We suggest finding the group that best fits you and your family, timing, and location. What Is The Required Commitment? Joining a Discovery Group requires a commitment to attend the weekly meetings and to do the homework ahead of time. Obviously, allowances are made for sickness, vacation, work conflicts, and other special events...but not much more! We have found that this commitment is the key to strong relationships and healthy groups. The commitment lasts the length of that session. What About Childcare? We leave it up to each group to work out their own childcare. Sometimes it works best for families to share a sitter or to swap childcare with another family whose group meets on a different evening or time. Another option used is to have childcare in the host home. What Will We Study? Material will be supplied with the oversight of the staff. This material will encourage discovery of your purpose in Christ. How Do I Sign Up? You can sign up by contacting the church. Our staff leadership team will be happy to help you find just the right group for you. Those who are new to the church (start attending in the middle of a session) can sign up and join any group that has openings without waiting for the start of a new session. When and Where Do These Groups Meet? Our Discovery Groups meet on various days and nights of the week in homes throughout the community. What is Intermission? Intermission is scheduled non study weeks that allows for groups to do a social night or to just take a break. There is also a longer summer intermission.
G.R.A.C.E. Group Meeting Times:
And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth...John 1:14
