Wayne's Words

Last week I suggested we ought to make our theme for this year: “LET’S MAKE IT GREAT IN 2008!”. In thinking about GREATNESS we find several places in Scripture where GREATNESS is referred. Here are just a few:

1.        Angel’s announcement of “good news and GREAT joy” Luke 2:10

2.        Wise Men’s “GREAT joy” at seeing the star Matthew 2:10

3.        God’s “GREAT love” Ephesians 2:4

4.        God’s “GREAT salvation” He provides man Hebrews 2:3

5.        Our “GREAT high priest” Hebrews 4:14

This is just a sampling of some of the Scriptures which refer to GREATNESS; there are many more. One that I think is particularly pertinent for all believers is the one where Apostle Paul says in reference to the various gifts of the Holy Spirit: “But now faith, hope, love, abide these three; but the GREATEST of these is love.” I Corinthians 13:1

As we strive to “MAKE IT GREAT IN 2008!” let’s remember the GREATEST gift is LOVE. Jesus said, “GREATER love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends.” John 15:13. This is exactly what He did for us.

UPDATE

Operation Christmas Child 2007 is now history. 460,000 shoeboxes were shipped from the California distribution    center in Orange County to children in ten countries. The West coast region was responsible for collecting over 323,000 shoeboxes. Just think, there will be 323,000 children who will hear about the Christ child and be invited to accept Him as their Savior because of our ministry and faithfulness. Please mark your calendar for November 17th through 24th which  are the dates for the 2008 national collection week. Grace will once again serve as a collection site for this great ministry!
